Today I am going to show you how to attach a French barrette to a hair bow.

You will need an already finished hair bow.

Then you will need to take apart your French barrette (I have post with the step-by-step instructions on how to do this under the Label "French Barrette")

Next, you need to hot glue or use fabric glue to attach the top piece of the barrette to the back of the hair bow. (I feel hot glue works better and faster.)

Then you flip the bow over and hot glue or fabric glue a small piece of ribbon to the middle of the hair as shown above.

Then flip the bow back over and glue the ends of the small piece of ribbon to the French barrette.

Finally you put the French barrette back together and you have sucessfully attached a French barrette to your hair bow!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hey everyone! Today I am going to show you how to take apart a French barrette.
You can find French barrettes at Hobby Lobby and they come in a pack with a pink label like in the picture above. They also come in many different sizes ranging from 1" to 4".

Above is a picture of the top view and the side view of the French barrette. Most hair bows come with these attached to them. They work best on girls with medium to thick hair.

Here is a picture of the bottom view. You will need to flip the barrette over so the bottom view is facing up.

Now you unclip the barrette as shown above.

Then you unhook it and lay that piece aside.

Finally, you take the arched piece out and lay that aside too. And there you go! You have just took apart a French barrette.
Now, to put it back together, you just follow these same steps in reverse.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Here are the Basic Hair Bow instructions!

Hello again! Here are step-by-step instructions on how to fold and make the basic hair bow.
Materials you will need:
  • Ribbon (any size)
  • Ruller
  • Scissors
  • Lighter
  • Needle and thread
  • Alligator clip
  • French barrette

The ribbon I used was 1.5" thick. I used 2 feet of ribbon to make this bow which came out to a 4" bow. You can use whatever size ribbon you want and whatever length you want. They all come out looking the same but just different sizes.

I made a "V" cut on the ends of my bow. You can leave the ends straight if you want. Then I heat sealed the ends with a lighter so the ribbon wont fray. I will have instructions on how to do the "V" cut and how to heat seal the ends with a lighter soon.

You start out by folding the ribbon as shown above. Make sure the loop is small and the ends are long.

Use the alligator clip to hold the loop over the cross section.

Then fold one of the ends over the alligator clip as shown above.

Now fold over the other end.

Use the alligator clip to hold it all together. Now is the time to fix your loops to make them even and the way you want it.

Hold the ribbon together and remove the alligator clip. Then fold and tie the center together together using the needle and thread. (Instructions on how to fold and tie the middle will be posted soon.)

Now take apart the French barrette. (The step-by-step instructions on how to take apart a French barrette is under the Label "French Barrette".)

Glue the top part of the French barrette to the back of the bow with the hot glue gun or fabric glue. (I feel the hot glue works better and faster.)

Now flip the bow over and glue a 2" piece of 3/8" thick ribbon to the center as shown above.

Flip the bow over again and glue the ends to the bottom of the French Barrette.

Put the French barrette back together.

And there you go! Just fix the loops so it looks nice and fluffy. It's that easy. If you have any questions, just ask. :)
